All You Need To Know About Eyelash Extensions

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are man made fibres that mimic the look of our natural lashes. A large number of individual lash extensions are applied to an individual natural eyelash. These can be either single extensions or a number of extensions arranged into a fan, which is then placed on an individual natural lash.

The end result is a fuller, thicker and luscious appearance.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

Extensions can last anywhere between 4-6 weeks, give or take, if you take care of your set of eyelash extensions correctly. We shed on average, 2-5 natural lashes per day, so as your natural lashes shed, the extension will shed with it. A number of different factors influence your lash retention; oily skin, face products you use, how you sleep, the climate, your lifestyle e.g. lots of exercise/sweating, swimming, etc.

How long does it take?

An appointment can vary depending on your service and difficulty of eye shape, on average 1-2 hours. Russian Volume sets can range from 2-3 hours.

Are eyelash extensions uncomfortable?

If your eyelash technician has been properly educated, you should barely be able to feel that your extensions are there. Sometimes if you have had a bad experience you may feel itchiness, discomfort, pulling/etc. you could potentially have lashes stuck together. This can cause your natural lash to shed prematurely.

Discomfort can also occur after your extensions grow out to much, weighing down your natural lashes. This is why it is important to schedule infill appointment within the correct time-frame or have them professionally removed to prevent damage to your natural lashes.

What should I do before my appointment?

It is best to arrive with a fresh face/no makeup. You must have no mascara residue on your lashes, so if you wear mascara the day of your appointment or even the day before then please ensure you thoroughly clean your lash line.

We always cleanse your lashes before beginning a set, to ensure you have the best retention possible. However, we do not want to spend precious time deep cleansing your lashes and cutting into the time needed to create a full and fluffy set.
